I recently did a pen & ink collage/drawing of the Duchess and Duke of Windsor. I found this amazing article on the famous duo in an old Harper’s Bazaar magazine. I read that Madonna was doing a movie on them, and was completely smitten with story of the Duchess. I was immediately smitten with the Richard Avedon photo featured in the magazine’s article. I have actually used the image twice now and love both outcomes. (I will post a photo of the second piece soon)

For the above piece I used only pen & ink and tried to keep things simple. I wanted to save the facial expressions, but add some unexpected whimsy to the couple. If you have been reading and watching my art lately, you know I am going through a “black hands” phase, and they fit so well here!
