I decided to show my favorite collages from the sketchbook I just completed. Full of dirty texture and profound thoughts stitched with red thread, these bad boys really stand out. I had a really good time experimenting and brainstorming in my last sketchbook. I think I used almost every kind of media I had in my art trunk. As far as collages go, anything goes.

For some reason though, November seemed to have a significant impact on the compostitions, and color schemes I chose. I wanted everything to be tactile, raw, gritty and grimy. It was a rainy month, full of storms and wind and chaos. I look back at these collages now, and realize that my surroundings had a profound effect on my expression. These are my favorite kind of collages to make, the organic and free-form types full of texture. I usually lend this techinque to postcards, Artist Trading Cards, and art journal pages. I would really like to give a tutorial (or 10) on this type of art with such a “handmade” and crafty feel to it.

Ahh, blogging about style is getting easier and easier. Are you noticing my many layers revealing themselves day after day? Bad Jones Rising, will soon be Bad Jones Risen. That will be the day, through and through.
